Alhamdulillah, last Wednesday we held our first ever orientation evening, at “The Venue” in Lansdowne. The aim of this event was to inform the community as to what al-Tanzil has to offer. The evening began with a recitation of the Qur’an from one of the students at al-Tanzil, Hafith Abdullah Petersen. This recitation gave the audience some idea as to what can be learnt at al-Tanzil. The rector of the institute, Qari Saleem Gaibie, then gave a presentation on the correct manner and approach towards the study of the Noble Qur’an: we first learn to recite it correctly, then endeavour to understand it, and then strive to the best of our ability to implement in our lives. The gathering was then addressed by Moulana Ali Adam of the Two Oceans Education Foundation, who spoke of the importance of Muslims excelling in all fields of study. Thereafter the attendees enjoyed some light snacks and refreshments.
The following is the sentiments of one of the students at al-Tanzil, Kashief Isaacs:
al-Tanzil’s orientation last night was extremely informative. al-Tanzil has a lot to offer for those who love the Quran: it teaches what is required to recite the Quran correctly and to understand it, and endeavours to inspire its students to implement the Quran in their lives. It also includes teacher-training for the student where one gets the opportunity to teach others whatever he or she has studied at the Institute. One of the aims and objectives of al-Tanzil – if not the most important – is about the development of the student with regards to his relationship with the Quran.
Being part of al-Tanzil is a great privilege and honour for me. It is the only school of its kind in Cape Town, and studying the Quran has never been so easy, since it is now on our doorstep. The atmosphere is amazing as one is constantly surrounded by people who display their love for the Quran, its recitation and sciences.
May Allah grant the school to grow to the intended heights, continue to nurture and guide students in the study of the Quran and may it inspire others to develop and improve their current status quo, ameen.
